Suzanne García-Mateus is an assistant professor of bilingual education and the director of the Monterey Institute for English Learners (MIEL) at California State University–Monterey Bay. She is a former bilingual teacher from Austin, Texas, and is also raising language warriors who speak Spanglish, Spanish, and English.
