Sehba Sarwar

Award-winning writer and artist, Sehba Sarwar creates essays, stories, poems, and art that tackle displacement, migration, and women’s issues. Her poems and essays have appeared in The New York Times Sunday Magazine, Creative Time Reports, Callaloo and elsewhere. Her short stories have appeared in anthologies including Feminist Press’s And the World Changed, Akashic Books’ Houston Noir, and Harper Collins India’s Neither Night, Nor Day: 13 Stories by Pakistani Women, while the second edition of her novel, Black Wings, was published in the US for the first time in spring 2019 (Veliz Books). Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan in a home filled with artists and activists, Sarwar spent two decades in Houston before recently moving to Los Angeles where she teaches, writes, and offers talks.
