S.C. Gwynne is the author of bestsellers Empire of the Summer Moon and Rebel Yell. The former was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the latter a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the PEN Award for Biography. He has also written The Perfect Pass, about the reinvention of football, Hymns of the Republic, about the final year of the Civil War and, most recently (2023) His Majesty’s Airship, about a tragic crash in 1930, He lives in Austin with his wife, the artist Katie Maratta.
