Rudy Ruiz is the author of Valley of Shadows, winner of the 2023 Texas Institute of Letters Jesse H. Jones Award for Best Book of Fiction. His previous books include The Resurrection of Fulgencio Ramirez and Seven for the Revolution, winners of six International Latino Book Awards. A bilingual native of the Rio Grande Valley, Ruiz resides in San Antonio with his wife and family.
