Michael Corcoran
Michael Corcoran is a former music critic of the Dallas Morning News (1992–1995) and the Austin American-Statesman (1995– 2011) who has written books on Texas music history since retiring. All Over the Map: True Heroes of Texas Music (UNT Press 2017) was followed by Ghost Notes: Pioneering Spirits of Texas Music (TCU Press). The book/CDs Corcoran wrote on 1920s gospel pioneers Arizona Dranes (2012) and Washington Phillips (2016) were both nominated for Grammys. He’s currently working on Overserved, a personal history of the Austin music scene, and lives in Buda, Texas.
