Julian Rubinstein

Julian Rubinstein is an award-winning journalist and author. His work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the New Yorker, Rolling Stone and others. His first book, Ballad of the Whiskey Robber, was called “an instant classic” by Canada’s the Globe and Mail and was a finalist for the Edgar Allan Poe award for Best Fact Crime book. His new book, The Holly: Five Bullets, One Gun and the Struggle to Save an American Neighborhood, was published by FSG in May and received starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, and Booklist, which called it “a shattering piece of investigative journalism involving street gangs, race relations, and law enforcement. It was named a New York Times “Editors’ Choice.” Rubinstein is a visiting professor of documentary journalism at the University of Denver.
