Daniel A. Olivas

Daniel A. Olivas is the author of ten books including How to Date a Flying Mexican: New and Collected Stories (University of Nevada Press), The King of Lighting Fixtures: Stories (University of Arizona Press), and Crossing the Border: Collected Poems (Pact Press). He is also the co-editor of The Coiled Serpent: Poets Arising from the Cultural Quakes and Shifts of Los Angeles (Tía Chucha Press), and editor of Latinos in Lotusland: An Anthology of Contemporary Southern California Literature (Bilingual Press). His plays have been produced in readings and for the stage by Playwrights’ Arena, Circle X Theatre Company, and the Road Theatre Company. Olivas has written for many publications, including the New York Times, The Guardian, Alta Journal, the Los Angeles Times, El Paso Times, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
