Beatrice Zamora is the author of the bilingual children’s book The Spirit of Chicano Park/ El espíritu del Parque Chicano, which has received five book awards and was the first release of the new publishing company, Tolteca Press, she co-owns with her husband, Dr. Mario E. Aguilar. The book focuses upon the need for community voice and self-determination-values close to her heart.
Beatrice considers herself to be an activist, cultural warrior, artist, and writer who believes in the importance of diversity and social justice. Beatrice was born in historic Barrio Logan in San Diego but raised in Los Angeles with family roots in New Mexico, Arizona, and Mexico. She is retired from a distinguished career as college professor and Dean of Students since 2015. Beatrice lives in San Diego and spends her time sharing knowledge and inspiration with the community at large.
