Investigate two journalists’ chronicles of criminology and cartels in Jana Monroe and Deborah Bonello’s recent publications. Hearts of Darkness follows Jana Monroe as she recounts her career as one of the first analysts and female agents in the FBI Behavioral Sciences Unit in Quantico, consulting on more than 850 cases including those of infamous serial killers. In Narcas, Deborah Bonello reports on notorious women within Latin America’s drug cartels, exploring their backstories, their motivations, and the agency and power they wield.
