Professor of Law and Migration Studies Bill Ong Hing and essayist and immigrant justice advocate Alejandra Oliva discuss the state of local and national immigration politics in their newest books Humanizing Immigration and Rivermouth. Hing’s work argues for a humanitarian approach to immigration reform and abolition through the lens of racial justice. Oliva’s work chronologically documents her experience interpreting languages at the US-Mexico border, relating the process of immigration to physical spaces that represent each phase.
