Poet Jericho Brown’s latest collection, The Tradition, catapulted to the top of must-read lists this year and made Brown, a Whiting Award winner and recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship, a literary household name. In The Tradition, poems of fatherhood, legacy, blackness, queerness, worship, and trauma are propelled into stunning clarity by Brown’s mastery, and his invention of the duplex—a combination of the sonnet, the ghazal, and the blues—is testament to his formal skill. We’re honored to welcome this important modern poet to Texas for what it sure to be a memorable reading.
