In Corazón Abierto, author Kathleen Hudson delves into Mexican American musicians’ countless contributions to the music of Texas and the United States at large. Based on interviews with longtime stalwarts of Mexican American music—Flaco Jiménez, Tish Hinojosa, Ernie Durawa, Rosie Flores, and others—and also conversations with newer voices like Lesly Reynaga, Marisa Rose Mejia, Josh Baca, and many more, the book is a rich, varied portrait of musical creativity in Texas. Hudson will be joined by musicians Ernie Durawa and Lesly Reynaga to discuss the book and Mexican Americans’ pivotal role in Texas music.
