Join Tyriek White and Nancy Jooyoun Kim in conversation about their latest novels, both family sagas grounded in surviving the loss of a dear member of their family and the lingering trauma of their inherited ghosts. We Are a Haunting follows the family of Key — a Black doula living in New York City who bears a supernatural gift — as they grapple with Key’s untimely death and seek a path forward from the pain of the past. In What We Kept To Ourselves, the Kim family struggles to move on from the disappearance of their mother — even more so when they find the body of a stranger in their backyard bearing a letter to her, sparking more questions in the wake of her absence.
