A can’t-miss conversation for any true baseball fan

Austinite Katie Russell Newland (A Season with Mom: Loss, Love, and the Ultimate Baseball Adventure) traveled 30,000 miles to all thirty MLB parks in a single season. The road trip was originally planned for both Russell Newland and her mother, but her mother died of cancer first, and the author’s latest book—which includes letters between her and her mom— captures the two’s shared love of the game. Journalist Luke Epplin’s new book, Our Team: The Epic Story of Four Men and the World Series that Changed Baseball, traces the Jackie Robinson era of postwar team integration and portrays in particular the World Series–bound Cleveland Indians players Larry Doby, Bill Veeck, Bob Feller, and Satchel Paige, who together helped rewrite the rules of the game.
