Pulitzer Prize finalist Luis Alberto Urrea and American Academy of Arts and Letters’ Rome Prize winner Aaron Hamburger unite to discuss their newest books, Good Night, Irene and Hotel Cuba, two works of historical fiction inspired by the incredible overseas experiences of real-life women in the authors’ lives. At the center of both sweeping novels are fearless women in the midst of reinventing themselves against tumultuous historical backdrops. These alternative histories star fictionalized characters who are not typically celebrated as part of the real-life events they experienced.
