S.C. Gwynne is the author of New York Times bestselling histories Empire of the Summer Moon, and Rebel Yell. Empire was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. Rebel Yell was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the PEN Award for Biography. In a departure from his usual histories, Gwynne published The Perfect Pass in 2016, the story of a football coach who revolutionized the game. Gwynne worked for Time Magazine and Texas Monthly and lives in Austin with his wife, the artist Katie Maratta.
