We love our Texas libraries! As a non-profit organization founded by former librarian Laura Bush, one of the main goals of the Texas Book Festival is to strengthen and support libraries across the state. Each year, we donate tens of thousands of dollars ($100,000 in 2016!) to libraries in Texas to fund their collections.
This year at the Festival, we’re celebrating our love for libraries in a big way and we want you to join us!
Tell us how much you love your library on our interactive storyboard that will be set up on Congress Avenue, between 10th and 11th Streets. Our display will ask why you love your library. Come make your mark!
The display will also illustrate a breakdown of the library grants Texas Book Festival has given over the years. We’ll give a little shout out to each of the 2016 library grant recipients.
Visitors can also pose in front of our photo wall with an array of fun photo props (share your shots with us: #txbookfest) or spend a few minutes coloring huge pages from Texas Library Association’s coloring book! (If you want to take a coloring book home, be sure to visit the TLA booth.)
Don’t miss one of the most fun events we get to host with the Texas Library Association all year: the annual Texas Bluebonnet Announcements! Join TBF and TLA in the Read Me A Story tent at 12:30pm on Saturday, November 5 when Newbery Award Honoree Jon Scieszka leads a team of Super Readers as they announce the Master List of titles!
Finally, if you are a librarian, make sure you stop by our storyboard, pose for a photo, and get your exclusive, limited edition free TBF <3s Libraries button!
Librarians are our rock stars, our heroes, and our friends and partners in fostering literacy in readers of all ages. Join us in a celebratory show of love and support for our Texas librarians at the TBF!
