Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, the Texas Book Festival has brought authors, books, and literacy outreach to more Texans than ever! In 2017, here are just a few highlights:
- More than 300 authors at the annual Texas Book Festival on November 4 & 5 delighted approximately 50,000 attendees. The Festival remains free and open to the public.
- To date, 85,000 books have been given to Title I elementary school students in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and the Rio Grande Valley through Reading Rock Stars.
- Nearly $3 million dollars in grants have been distributed to Texas public libraries to expand their collections. We gave out $100,000 in 2017 to 44 libraries across Texas!
- The Texas Teen Book Festival welcomed more than 5,000 enthusiastic young readers to the St. Edward’s University campus for a day of literary programming. The Teen Festival also remains free and open to the public.
When you make a donation of $100 or more, we thank you with a Festival Friends Pass. A critical funding stream that helps keep the Festival free for all, a Festival Friends Pass allows you, plus one guest, priority line access at designated Festival Friends Pass sessions and signings. Festival Friends Passes will be mailed up to one week before the Festival, along with your thank you letter. After that, Festival Friends Passes will be available for pick up in the Texas Book Festival Store on 11th Street in front of the Capitol.
