On Saturday January 18th and January 25th, Starling Eyewear hosted a sample sale at their pop-up trailer at The Domain Austin. Starling donated 15% of ALL sales to the Texas Book Festival’s Reading Rock Stars program, raising $900 for the TBF’s signature literacy program. We want to thank everyone who came out to buy readers for our young readers!
Starling Eyewear, a stylish line of readers, sun readers and sunglasses founded by husband-and-wife duo Pierre and Isabelle Fay, launched their pop-up shops in Austin, Texas, this past year. Passionate about encouraging reading in their local community, Pierre and Isabelle partnered with the Texas Book Festival to bring the Starling Eyewear trailer to the 2013 Texas Book Festival, donating 15% of their Festival sales to our nonprofit.
The Texas Book Festival, through its Reading Rock Stars Program, invites renowned children’s authors from across the country to present their works to students in economically-disadvantaged public schools. Authors interact with the kids and share their love of reading through highly interactive presentations. The TBF gives an autographed copy of the author’s book to each child in the school and a set of books is also given to the school library. Want to learn more about Reading Rock Stars?
