Did you know one of Texas’ most beloved grocery chains offers more than just groceries? Put away your Texas-shaped tortilla chips and creamy creations ice cream, and let us tell you what the Texas Book Festival loves about our sponsor and partner H-E-B: their dedication to literacy in Texas. Studies have shown that when kids are read to in the home just three times a week, they develop reading skills needed to succeed in school. Enter: H-E-B’s Read 3 program that focuses on not only getting parents to read to their kids three times a week, but also getting books into the home. Since the inception of Read 3, H-E-B has donated nearly 3 million books to students in need.
Read 3 has expanded beyond book giving. Here’s what’s coming up on their calendar and how you can get involved!
