Two acclaimed Texas novelists discuss their very different new books — one a work of speculative science fiction, the other a riveting political thriller. The Ferryman follows Proctor Bennett as he learns about the supposedly utopian archipelago on which he’s living and begins questioning what he thought to be true. Devil Makes Three explores the lives of three people as they find a path through the aftermath of Haiti’s 1991 coup d’état, delving into questions of power, blood politics, and American complicity.
