The Development Internship
The intern will work directly with the Festival’s Development Director in assisting with development duties ranging from communication with donors, event planning, grant writing and proofreading, updating information in customer relationship database, and general fundraising. The internship is unpaid and is a good opportunity to learn the basics about fundraising, nonprofit organizations, event planning, and more.
The internship requires a commitment of 8-10 hours per week. Internships can range from three months to a year, and start and finish dates are flexible. Interns must be available for the duration of the Festival (October 25-28). Internships must be scheduled during the Texas Book Festival’s operating hours (9 AM through 5 PM, Monday through Friday). Internship includes participating in occasional after-hours literary events, including event setup, registration, and clean-up.
The Development Applicant
The ideal intern is detail-oriented, experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel, WordPress, good with people, and interested in the inner-workings of a nonprofit organization. Interested applicants must be working towards an undergraduate degree or higher level degree. The work level will be adjusted to the applicant’s level of education and experience.
