532b953a39789.imageThanks for coming out and shopping for our cause! June 21st and 22nd Starling Eyewear donated 15% of all sales made at their pop-up trailer at The Domain Austin (near Sur La Table) to the Texas Book Festival’s Reading Rock Stars  signature literacy program.

Starling Eyewear, a stylish line of readers, sun readers and sunglasses founded by husband-and-wife duo Pierre and Isabelle Fay, launched their pop-up shops in Austin, Texas, this past year. Passionate about encouraging reading in their local community, Pierre and Isabelle partnered with the Texas Book Festival to bring the Starling Eyewear trailer to the 2013 Texas Book Festival, donating 15% of their Festival sales to our nonprofit. Since then, the partnership has continued to grow. In January, Starling raised over $900 for Reading Rock Stars at a sample sale.

The Texas Book Festival, through its Reading Rock Stars Program, invites renowned children’s authors from across the country to present their works to students in economically-disadvantaged public schools. Authors share their love of reading through highly interactive presentations. The TBF gives an autographed copy of the author’s book to each child in the school, and a set of books is also given to the school library. Want to learn more about Reading Rock Stars?
