Reading Rock Stars News

By on

The authors for Reading Rock Stars 2013 have been announced!  13 authors from across the country will be presenting their work to students in economically-disadvantaged schools in the Austin area. At the end of the presentations, each child will receive an autographed copy of the author’s book, and a set of books will also be given to the school library.

This year’s Rock Stars include a Newberry Award winner (Katherine Applegate for The One and Only Ivan), a Caldecott Award winner (Chris Raschka for A Ball For Daisy) , and a Pura Belpré Award Winner (Duncan Tonatiuh for Diego Rivera: His World and Ours).  Also included are authors recognized by the Texas Library Association, including Monica Brown, winner of the Tejas Star Book Award, and Sophie Blackall, honored on the Texas 2×2 Reading List.
