A Festival in Austin needs music, and this year we have an excellent lineup of live music and books about music. Local musicians, authors, and rock legends will be at the Festival on stage and in sessions. Welcome to Austin, Live Music Capital of the World!
From Katheryn Russell Brown’s children’s book Little Melba and Her Big Trombone, to the memoir by Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson, to Pitchfork’s Jessica Hopper’s The First Collection of Criticism by a Living Female Rock Critic, you can read about the music you love and discover something new. Check out all the Festival’s books about music!
Of course, you probably want to hear some music as well. In the Music Tent, you can find the Austin Opera, Austin Lounge Lizards, and Los Aztecs. Make some time to stop by the Music Tent!
For younger fans, in the Children’s Entertainment Tent, we are lucky to have Lucas Miller the Signing Zoologist, Boitumelo: Song and Stories of South Africa, and the Inside Out Steelband. The full Children’s Entertainment Tent schedule can be found on the grid schedule.
If you want to kick off the weekend with authors in a late-night, cocktail party setting and be entertained by local funk-rock band Austin Heat, join us at the Gala Afterparty!
