On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, the Texas Book Festival and KLRU celebrated El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) at the Thinkery from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The day, also known as Día, is a nationally celebrated initiative that celebrates children’s literature and diversity in language and culture. The initiative was originally implemented in the U.S. by children’s author Pat Mora in 1996. Now the event is celebrated by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
In honor of Día, the Texas Book Festival is hosted author visits and story presentations at the Thinkery. KLRU will be hosted an interactive game in between author presentations called ¡A La Orden! / Order Up! Check out some pictures from the celebration here.
