Terry Teachout is a critic, biographer, librettist, playwright, and blogger. Born in Sikeston, Missouri, he moved to New York City in 1985, where he worked as an editor for Harper's Magazine and an editorial writer for the New York Daily News. He is the drama critic of The Wall Street Journal, the critic-at-large of Commentary, and the author of “Sightings,” a biweekly column for the Friday Journal about the arts in America. He blogs at About Last Night and has written about the arts for many other magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times and National Review.
